Crochet for Beginners

If you have always wanted to crochet, check out this blog The Art of Crochet by Teresa. I learnt to crochet when I was a girl but her site was still invaluable to me to sort out the differences between Australia and US terminology but also to refresh the old crochet memory! I really wanted to try my hand at the Cupcake Beanie, and with some adjustments to fit a baby, here is the result:

Sorry for poor quality, I'm having to use my mobile phone at the moment. If you like what you see, leave a comment below!

April is Autism Awareness Month but..

there are still 5 days left to participate by visiting Agoo and supporting their great cause! For the entire month of April, Agoo are running a fundraiser whereby they will donate $2.50 for every purchase of the Puzzle Fun leg warmers. Use the code ASD to reduce the price from $14.99 to $12.50 and they will donate $2.50 to Autism Spectrum Australia for every pair sold.

Puzzle pieces are often used to signify autism. I'll be doing my part, will you?

First Post Ice Breaker

Hi I'm Fiona, a mum of three children. My oldest is 14 and has Autism. He's very stubborn at school so he's partly the reason why I'd like to get my online businesses running nicely so as to spend more time at home and less in the office! It's definitely a career staller when I regularly get phone calls from school to come pick him up due to their inability to handle him! There is such a thing as the "mummy track" and I'm definitely on it. I'd rather be on a different sort of "mummy track"... MINE! At home working for myself.

I also have a 12yo girl. When she was 7 I referred to her as "7 going on 14". She was so rude and bad tempered and I dreaded her teen years. Well, her teen years are just around the corner and well, those with daughters will know what I'm going through and about to go through! :)

Lastly, I have a nearly 9mo son. He is absolutely adorable! When he's not clinging that is. He is getting into everything now, crawling super fast, pulling himself up on everything and cruising around the coffee tables. Today he managed to pull down a cold cup of leftover coffee, and a glass of water. He's also starting to let go of the coffee table before promptly collapsing onto his butt!

My goal of Sweet Little Pixies is to indulge my creative side. I love those pettiskirts and hope to offer variations of skirts and dresses in my shop. I hope to offer a range of matching handmade accessories and eventually, to offer funky clothes from Japan and Scandinavia. They have such cute clothes! I have a couple of anime addicts in the house so it'll be perfect.

When my daughter was little I used to make her mini versions of my skirts which she loved wearing to kindy. I hope to offer a range of designs suitable for everyday wear in fabrics that won't require much ironing! I once made the mistake of making her a skirt out of quilting fabric.. looked nice until I washed it... crinkles galore! Ironing ruffles is not fun!

On that note, Good night and I hope I haven't bored you!
